Converting Lookie Loos to Buyers
Most of us have a website for our business. They range from simple websites with a little bit of information about our company to full blown ecommerce sites selling our products.
Having a website is all well and good. But unless you get visitors to your site and get them to become customers then nothing else matters. We have talked about driving traffic to your site. It requires a coordinated effort and a multi prong strategy. This could include Pay Per Click advertising, article writing, posting videos, forum posting, link building as well as using offline tactics to direct your customers to your website.
But the biggest part of having a profitable Internet Marketing Strategy is to get them to convert. Everything up to this is just preparation and anticipation. I know of many people that get a great amount of traffic to their site but they don’t make effective use of the traffic once it is there.
There are many tweaks that you can make on your website that can assist with conversions. Did you know that adding a signature under your main testimonial above the fold will increase conversion 11%? Also according to Ryan Deiss if the background of your website is robin’s egg blue, this will increase the trust factor and conversions by 31%.
It does not take many of these types of tweaks to really help you make even the most mediocre website convert profitably. I took 11 of his suggested modifications to heart and made changes on one of my product websites. I added all 11 and tested it against the previous conversion ratios. I was able to get my opt-ins to increase over 41% and my sales conversions to increase by 19% over what they had been.
All in all it really helped me make a small website / product go from barely breaking even to profitable. Once I completed all of those tweaks it now makes sense for me to buy PPC traffic and sell more products.
Any small business can make these changes or additions to their website and increase conversions. I made these 11 changes in 15 minutes. And it really made a difference. I don’t know what your results will be but if test them against what you have right now; you can then compare your results and go with the one that works better.
Imagine before I made these changes to this site I would get 21 opt-ins and 7 sales for every 100 visitors. After making 11 simple changes I now get an average of 51 opt-ins and 9 sales for every 100 visitors. That allows me now drive traffic to this site using PPC and break even on the front-end. I am then able to follow up with those that opted in and sell my product to them and get my profit from them.
If I can make just 1 sale to those additional 30 people I will be able to put more money in my pocket. And that is what it is all about. So at December’s Seattle Chapter meeting I will be showing everyone those 11 simple “Must Haves” that will help you put more money in your pocket. Hope to see you there.
Thanksgiving Message
Happy Thanksgiving! This is always a time for families to get together to reminisce, enjoy each other and eat until they can’t eat no more. Last night Evelyn, Rachel and my nephew Nick spent a nice evening relaxing by playing cards and laughing a lot.
Being the last of 11 kids, I am used to having large Turkey Day Festivities. It was typical to have 50 to 60 people at our house for dinner. Between the kids, their spouses and kids, friends, not to mention the Aunts, Uncles and cousins. It could only be described as a zoo.
Even now Thanksgiving isn’t just a day, it is a weekend. Tonight we are having dinner with family friends that are going to be moving to Canada the beginning of next year. Friday we will have dinner with my two sisters and their families. Saturday we will have another dinner with my brother and sister-in-law along with their kids and their families.
Turkey for dinner tonight. Lasagna for dinner tomorrow and a standing rib roast on Saturday. I will have had my fill of meat for the next several weeks all in three days. I think I already have a stomach ache just thinking about it. But really I wouldn’t have it any other way…
Evelyn, Rachel and I wish you nothing but the best for this weekend. Hope you have enough to eat in a relaxed and family atmosphere. Be careful on Black Friday; don’t spend all of your shopping money in one day. There are always more ways to spend money than you can imagine. I always have to check my list twice because I am always forgetting someone.
Be safe and share the love with your family and friends.
Happy Independence Day,

As this weekend we take the time to celebrate our countries founding, I want to wish you all a happy and safe 4th of July.
This is one of my favorite times of the year. It will always bring back memories of sun and fun, parades and happy times with family and friends. Great times. But please remember that it is those people in the Armed Services that has made it so and has guaranteed it for so long.
20 Years ago on tomorrow, I remember having been out to sea for over 100 days. Our ship was sitting in the hot Persian Gulf off the coast of Iran waiting for things to happen. Here we are 20 years later; the fall of the Berlin Wall, collapse of the Soviet Union, 2 Gulf Wars, a war in Afghanistan and fighting of terrorists worldwide. The Navy is still sitting off the coast of Iran waiting for things to happen.
Even though America is going through some tough economic times, businesses are failing and homes are being foreclosed upon, we are still a great country. Specifically due to the valiant effort of those in are armed forces. So take the time to thank a Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Air Force & Coast Guard member this week end.
Remember that while we are here having hotdogs, hamburger steak and beer, there are hundreds of thousands of service members risking their lives for our freedom. 20 years ago, as I was looking at the coast of Iran wondering what was going to happen since the Ayatollah Khomeini just died, would we have a war or would things settle down a little. I would never have thought that I would be wondering the same thing 20 years later.
Have a great weekend and have a beer for me will ya,
Dedicated to Multiplying Your Successes!
